Bullying / Cliques

There are a lot of reasons why some kids bully. It makes them feel tough, in control, the leader of the pack; it is a way of being popular (especially among girls in cliques); it's a way of getting attention. Or it may be a response to being bullied themselves.

Whatever the reason, bullying has serious consequences-for both the bullied and the bully.

Something you should know...
Bullying can have negative lifelong consequences - both for children who bully and for their victims.

Kids who bully are more likely to engage in other antisocial or delinquent behavior well into adulthood
They are four times more likely to be convicted of crimes by age twenty-four
60% will have at least one criminal conviction.

Kids who are bullied are more likely to have low self-esteem and feelings of low self-worth. Fear of the school bully may cause children to socially isolate, and become withdrawn and depressed, anxious and insecure.
