Local agency managers and decision-makers seeking to more effectively communicate to state government their grant-funded program ideas. Behavioral Objectives: Attendees will learn how to:
• understand how funders think
• develop and effective strategy for responding to a grant request
• manage time well in developing the response
• be clear and persuasive in presenting ideas
• identify more opportunities to win grant dollars Upon request, course can be customized to agency priorities and grant requirements. Additional hourly rates to be discussed. Effective Grant Administration and Management Course Duration: Full day Maximum Class Size: 25
Target Population: Grant program administrators, directors, and finance professionals Behavioral Objectives: Attendees will learn how to:
• conduct a performance audit of their own grant management functions
• prioritize and triage the most critical grant management improvement activities
• set up internal controls over finances
• organize staff resources to support better grant monitoring and management
• improve grantee reporting without overburdening them
• set up grantee information sessions and training on new requirements
• find good resources for improving management of grants.

• understand the value of strategic planning
• be familiar with the types pf strategic planning processes available and which is most appropriate to their organization or activity
• understand basics of how to be successful in developing strategic plans Strategic Planning Intensive Course Duration: 2 days Maximum Class Size: 25
Target Population: Any manager whose program areas require planning for programmatic success. Behavioral Objectives: Attendees will learn how to:
• understand the value of strategic planning
• be familiar with the types of strategic planning processes available
and which is most appropriate to their organization or activity
• understand the key elements of any strategic plan
• complete an internal organizational assessment of strengths and
weaknesses with regard to strategic planning or a strategic issue
• understand the keys to being successful in developing strategic plans
• have the opportunity through case studies to practice their data gathering and analytic skills
• understand how to convey strategic plans results in an effective way
• be familiar with strategic planning resources and tools that will support the process
Depending on the size of the group, time may allow the instructor to work individually with each participant on particular strategic planning issues. Run Great Meetings! Course Duration: 1 day Maximum Class Size: 50
Target Population: Any who has to plan, convene, and lead a meeting. Behavioral Objectives: Attendees will learn how to conduct effective pre-planning for meetings, identify appropriate facilitation goals and tools, develop new facilitation skills and practice skills. Crafting Program Plans Course Duration: One-half day Maximum Class Size: 40
Target Population: Program developers (government). Behavioral Objectives:
Attendees will understand elements of high impact strategies, using data for program development, building in sustainability strategies and identifying promising evaluation tools.
