Privacy Policy

WorkTerrain is committed to making everyone's visit to our web site safe. Your privacy on the Internet is very important to us. We want you to be fully aware of the information we will collect and how we collect, protect, use, and share information that we have gathered about you on our web site.

First, we do not collect and keep any personal information from you unless you volunteer it and you are 13 or older. We also do not collect and keep personal information online from children under the age of 13 without their parent's consent. Please review the information below to familiarize yourself with our policies on web site privacy. We hope this disclosure will give you confidence in our site and offer you a positive experience on the Internet.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PARENTS: WorkTerrain adheres to the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. The primary goal of the COPPA rules is to place parents in control of what information is collected about and from their children online. WorkTerrain is targeted to parents, other care gives & teachers of children ages 4 to 11. In addition, we may target some products/services to children ages 4 to 11. Please help us protect your child's privacy by instructing them never to provide personal information on this site or any other site without your permission.

IF YOU ARE UNDER 18, PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THIS POLICY WITH YOUR PARENTS AND ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT THINGS YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND. IF YOU ARE UNDER 13, YOU ALSO SHOULD GET YOUR PARENT'S PERMISSION BEFORE GIVING OUT YOUR E-MAIL ADDRESS OR ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO KIDSTERRAIN OR TO ANYONE ELSE ON THE INTERNET.

Does WorkTerrain Collect Any Personal Information About Me If I Am 13 Or Older?
WorkTerrain does not require anyone to share any personal information in order to enjoy our web site. The majority of information and products on our site are offered without collecting any personally identifiable information from you. You and your child can surf and enjoy our site anonymously.

We do not collect any personal information from you unless it is voluntarily provided, for instance when completing our online customer surveys or purchasing products. The personal information we ask for is usually first and last name, gender, an e-mail address, and zip code. If you make a purchase, we will collect additional information, including street and billing address, phone number, and credit card information. See below for how we use this information. Remember, you only may purchase products from us online if you are age 18 or older.

Does WorkTerrain Collect Any Personal Information About Anyone Under 13?
Because the market age for WorkTerrain is 4-11 years, parents will provide most of the personally identifiable information we collect. We do not collect personal information online from children. In cases where we receive information from the child directly, we will notify parents via e-mail that the child has provided this information. We will request that the parent telephone, fax, or mail WorkTerrain directly and give us permission to have this information. If your child is under 13 and wants to participate in one of our special activities, we might ask your child to "register" by giving us a first name, age, school grade, state, and how they found out about the site. When we ask for your child's first name, your child is encouraged to use a pretend name (not their real name) or we may recommend that your child make up a special password that only they know. With your verifiable consent, we may collect personal information from your child such as a last name, address or e-mail address when the information is necessary for a particular activity, such as to receive an initial free product or service. We usually will ask your child for your e-mail or mailing address so that we get your permission for your child to provide the information. When we ask for your permission, we will tell you what we will do with the information your child provides us, and we will tell you how you can review your child's information and ask us to delete the information. We do not keep your (or your child's) e-mail address unless you tell us we may.

WorkTerrain may collect some information from your child under 13 without your consent, but only in the following special cases:

  • If a child under 13 contacts us with a question or request, we keep their e-mail address long enough to respond to them. WorkTerrain deletes this information from our system after we answer their question.

WorkTerrain may have special site activities or promotions that children under 13 may wish to participate in. For these activities, we are not allowed to ask for more information from your child than is necessary for your child to participate in the activity. Any information your child gives us in the above special circumstances will be deleted from our database once the promotion, program, or activity is concluded, and after any legally required period for keeping such information is complete.

You can always ask to review the information your child has submitted to us by sending us a written request addressed to: WorkTerrain, P.O. Box 560, Wilmington, MA 01887. You must include the address of your child, your child's password, if applicable, and any other information that will allow us to verify that you are the parent of the child whose information you are requesting. You may ask us to delete your child's information at any time and you may ask that we not collect any more personal information from your child, by sending us a written request addressed to: WorkTerrain, P.O. Box 560, Wilmington, MA 01887. However, if you ask us to delete your child's information, we may have to ask your child not to participate in our activities.

What Does WorkTerrain Do With the Information We Collect?

For instance, we use the information to process an order or complete a transaction. WorkTerrain offers books, CDs, and other products for purchase. We collect e-mail, and financial (credit card) information from parents or other responsible adults for these products. If you contact us for assistance, we will use the information you submitted to return the contact. Occasionally, and only with consent at the time we ask for information, we may also e-mail or mail you to provide information on new events and upcoming WorkTerrain products, web site updates and promotions. With your consent, we may also share information with WorkTerrain sponsors so that they can let you and your family know about products that may be of interest to you.

If you want to stop receiving such updates and product information from WorkTerrain or our sponsors at any time, just e-mail us at info@kidsterrain.com. Please type "Unsubscribe" in the subject line of the e-mail. Our mailings and e-mails also will include information allowing you to ask not to receive such information in the future.

Does WorkTerrain Share Information About Me With Others?
If you consent and if you are an adult or can verify that you are 13 or older, WorkTerrain may provide your information to outside companies that offer products or services that may be of interest to you. Except for maintenance and security reasons, we never share personal information that we receive from children under 13 with other companies. We will remove your name from the list we provide to outside companies, if you just e-mail us at info@kidsterrain.com. Please note in the subject line "Removal Request." In special circumstances, WorkTerrain may give other companies access to our information database, but only if necessary to allow them to provide database or server maintenance or security or other similar services to us. If we do provide access, we require those other companies to sign confidentiality agreements promising to keep secret any information they see. If WorkTerrain believes that anyone's behavior on our site may damage us or our site or anyone else, we may disclose the relevant personal information in order to prevent this harm. In that case, we may try to identify the wrongdoer, contact them or bring legal action against them. We may also disclose personal information if we believe that the disclosure is required by law, for example to comply with a court order or subpoena, or to enforce our Terms of Service or site or game rules, or to protect the security and safety of our visitors and our web site.

How Does WorkTerrain Use Cookies?
WorkTerrain.com uses a software technology called "cookies" that help us track non-personal aggregate data about who visits our site. Cookies are pieces of non-personal information that a web site sends to your computer while you are viewing the site. The cookies help us to remember important information that will make your visit to our site more useful. For example, cookies help us keep track of the number of visitors to our site and allow us to gauge the areas of most interest to our members. Cookies also help give you faster access to pages you have already visited and they help you participate in some activities or events on the site. We also use cookies to help us figure out how many people visit our sites, which of our web pages they stop at and how long they stay there. This information helps us figure out which of our web features are most successful and which might need improvement. For administrative purposes, we collect an IP address, which is the automatic number assigned to your computer when you surf the web. The IP address allows us to count the total number of "hits" on our site. Your IP address and cookie are not connected to any personally identifiable or online contact information such as a name and address, so you and your family remain anonymous.

Public Forums
WorkTerrain offers forums, message board, and /or news groups that are available to its adult users. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information. We urge you to exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal information on any public forum. We also urge parents to instruct their children never to provide personal information on a public forum without your prior consent.

Does WorkTerrain Ever Collect Information Without Consent?
WorkTerrain does not collect information passively through cookies or other tracking mechanisms except in the circumstances described above. Cookies DO NOT contain any personal information about a specific user. We do not use cookies or other non-consensual methods to take personally identifiable or online contact information about you or your family from your computer. Cookies are also not used to collect information specifically about you or your family for sharing with third parties.
